30 years of Mercosur: A race towards innovation 17/5/2021

In a world in which innovation and technological transformation accelerate the dynamics of change, it is necessary to design strategies capable of adapting and boosting the competitiveness of the Mercosur countries, especially in the sectors with the greatest potential. What are the challenges that Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay face in order to accelerate innovation in their production networks? What is the bloc doing to conquer markets in sectors that require rapid innovation, such as agriculture, chemical industry, health services, entertainment and electronic commerce, among many others?

SPEAKERS

Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal (Brazil) - President of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). Titular Member of the National Academy of Engineering. Civil Engineer, graduated in Mathematical Economics (IMPA) and PhD at the Graduate School of Economics (EPGE) of the FGV. PhD in Economics from Princeton University. He received the Grand Cross of the National Order of Scientific Merit awarded by the President of the Republic of Brazil, for his contribution to Science and Technology.

Magdalena Giuria El Helou (Uruguay) - Director of the Ithaka Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Teacher specialized in entrepreneurship. Founder of BRAVA, a social company with the aim of closing the gender gap in the world of work. Mentor of startups and entrepreneurs. MBA and Public Accountant.

Fernando Peirano (Argentina) - President of the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation. Degree in Economics, with postgraduate studies at the Complutense University of Madrid and ECLAC. Professor and researcher (UBA and National University of Quilmes). He directed projects for CEPAL, IDB, IPEA, RICYT, among others.

Belén Servín (Paraguay) - She is a researcher and board member of the Center for Analysis and Diffusion of the Paraguayan Economy (CADEP). Degree in Economics and Master in Economic Sciences. She has published various works on international economy, foreign trade, competitiveness and innovation.

Ricardo Rozemberg (Argentina) - INTAL Consultant and UNSAM Researcher. University teacher. Degree in Economics and Master in Economics and Public Policy. He is the author of numerous publications on productive and foreign trade problems in Argentina, and on the Mercosur’s state of affairs.
