MICHEL ALBERT LECTURE ON THE 21ST CENTURY CAPITALISM
In April 1997, the Foro del Sur Foundation invited the French academic Michel Albert (1930-2015) to speak on the 21st century capitalism and reflect on globalization and the general future of the economy. Albert exposed his points of view on this subject treated in his book Capitalism versus Capitalism, where he promotes a humanized capitalism. On that occasion, before a packed audience, he reflected: “The world is moving towards more flexible labor relations, but this does not imply that models from other countries can be imported (...) the right to work, collective agreements, union relations and the role of the State in guaranteeing the right to employment, are different in each country. For this reason, each country must find its model of modernization”. He also considered the construction of economic and commercial blocks in the face of globalization as a solution since "investments only go to large markets".
