The headquarters of the Superior Court of Justice of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, and South Atlantic Islands was the setting for another meeting of the Network of Rural Women, Indigenous Peoples, and Judicial Representatives for Climate Justice.
More than sixty women from different localities of the province went to Ushuaia to share experiences and generate dialogues for a greater understanding of the challenges faced by women in the territory and the Judiciary due to problems generated by climate change, especially the impact it has on the mental health of women from a gender equality perspective.
They were welcomed by the ministers of the Supreme Court, María del Carmen Battaini and Ernesto Adrián Löffler; the vice-governor, Mónica Urquiza; Lorena Chara, director of the French Development Agency in Argentina; and Marlise Ilhesca, executive director of the Foro Sur Foundation.
On this occasion, Sandra Verónica Guagnino, Prosecutor specializing in Gender Violence for the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, presented the Rights Literacy manual created by the Foro Sur with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands.
Additionally, the attendees were able to learn about the experience of the Cluster of artisanal fishing in Tierra del Fuego, coordinated by Judith Valle. The impact of Climate Change on the mental health of women was a topic introduced by Claudia Zalazar, Judge of the 5th Civil and Commercial Chamber of Córdoba. Gachi Tapia, one of the most recognized international advisors in dialogue and mediation, explained how collaborative processes work.
